In 2011 and into the future most folks in search of good investments will again turn to mutual funds for investing money, and for good reason. These funds do the money investing for you and try to pick good investments for their (your) portfolio. It’s your money and you pick the funds, so in case you feel clueless, here we take the mystery out of investing for 2011 and beyond by getting back to basics.
In the process of investing money for the future you really only have 4 basic choices. That was true 100 years ago and still applies in 2011 and beyond. There are good safe investments that pay interest, bonds that pay more interest, stocks that grow in value most of the time; and alternative investments like gold & other commodities including real estate that offer growth opportunities sometimes when stocks don’t. Those are your basic choices when investing money unless you bury the stuff, in which case inflation and decomposition can eat away at your underground deposit.
Now let’s look at each of these 4 alternatives for investing money in search of good investments in mutual funds. Cash in the bank is safe and so are money market securities. These don’t look like good investments now because interest rates are near all-time lows. That won’t always be the case, so put some money in money market funds for safety.

Selecting an investment plan is a crucial decision. You would be the sole decision maker in going for an investment plan. Also you would be the only one who would be bearing all the risk associated with the investment. So you need to make a plan wisely. Unless you have enough funds put aside and a secured income, you must never opt for higher risk investment. They can drown you till throat.
Always keep in mind the below mentioned three golden rules of investment:
1) No investment plan is completely secure. There is always certain degree of risk involved in all.
2) Risk and return works here in a parallel way. Higher risks means higher return and lower risk means lower return but more safety.
3) Never ever invest in any plan blindly without understanding the complete details of the plan.
The only thing that you need to do is setting a goal before investment. "What is that you want to achieve through your investment?" Is the question to be answered before making any investment decision? Below are some of the goals that answer the above question. Some may go for a particular goal, while some opt for combination of goals. Find below the kind of goal that exists:
1) Safety: When the individual is opting for this goal wants that the risk associated with the original investment must be minimal. There are no higher returns on this, but the safety of original investment is highest.
2) Income: In this type of investment goal, the individual is targeting a constant flow of income through his investment by making some regular payment. In this case there might or might not be a decrease in the original investment done.
3) Growth: Here the individual goes for long term investment. Also the risk here is higher than above two. He might get a dividend on the invested amount or might not. He wants to take the benefit of the appreciation in the market value.
4) Speculation: This is the most risky investment of all the above. Here there are changes that you get higher return in short duration by investing in new and fast growing companies stocks and shares, but there are also chances for little or higher loss. You can even lose your entire investment amount.

Balanced investment strategy is perhaps the most followed and successful investment
strategy for portfolio management.
Its primary aim is to keep a balance between
investment risk and return.
A balanced investment strategy combines the merit of
aggressive and defensive investing strategies.

Aggressive investment strategy involves investing in high return high risk
investments with the sole purpose of maximizing return from investments.
It
involves allocating major portion of portfolio capital to invest in equities,
equity based funds and highly volatile markets.

Hypo Venture Capital: Why Invest Offshore?

What are the benefits available to you from the world of offshore savings, investment, finance and banking?

Even in this day and age of enlightenment thanks to the pervasive nature of information dissemination via the internet, some people are still concerned about the legalities and legitimacy of the offshore world of finance and banking. For some reason others simply assume that onshore equates to a ‘safe haven’ for money and offshore equates to a ‘risky tax haven.’

Well, you and I know that that is simply not the case! However, even though it is now clearer to more people that the offshore world holds many potential taxation benefits, there are still questions to be answered about why one should invest offshore and in this article we explore the benefits.

First things first…here’s another myth I wish to dispel – some people say that offshore investments and bank accounts are more lightly regulated than their entity-type-counterparts onshore…now, that’s not necessarily true!

Yes, certain jurisdictions give fund managers, bankers and investors pretty much free rein so that the rewards and risks are potentially far greater – but some jurisdictions are very highly regarded among financial professionals simply because of the incredibly high standards of protection they afford investors and account holders through insurance schemes and government regulation requirements for example:

Venture Capital

http://www.integralcapital.com.au/pages/venture-capital.php?gclid=COWusuSr66cCFYtDHAodOBsCbA
Venture Capital is capital invested by investors into a non-publicly listed business, in return for equity or shares in the entity. Venture Capital investors accept a higher degree of risk, as compared to banks and other financial institutions.
The term Venture Capital is often used interchangeably with the term Private Equity. Both these terms cover all possible stages of investment, whether it be seed or start up funding, funding for expansion or funding associated with an acquisition, whether that be a Management Buy In (MBI) or Management Buy Out (MBO).
Venture Capital investors are equity investors who are seeking above average returns for the risk that they may lose their capital.
Questions often on business owners minds are:-
  • How would I go about obtaining venture capital funding?
  • Is my company big enough?
  • Should I acquire another business?
  • Should I sell my business?
  • Should my company go public?
These questions cannot be answered before establishing a clear strategy.
Should the strategy determine that an external investor should be brought into the business, then it is imperative that the business is made 'investor ready', in order to optimize the valuation for the business. Equally important, a list of criteria should be drawn up which clearly defines the type of investor required. Many businesses have suffered due to the involvement of an investor whose objectives were not aligned to those of the business.
The right type of investor should provide not only the injection of capital, but considerable potential value to a business in terms of resources, skills, contacts, experience, etc.
Some companies undertake the capital raising process themselves. Some are successful, many are not. It is advisable to seek professional advice, as making the wrong move can either use up valuable time and resources, or worse still, create a negative perception in the market.
Integral Capital is experienced in all type of Venture Capital raising, advisory and strategy formulation. Contact us now for a confidential discussion today, simply fill in the below form and one of our highly experienced Venture Capital experts will be in contact within two business days.
